How to connect

To use the Norfolk open link network is simple but like any network you need to ensure you have the appropriate equipment.
Step 1. ensure you have the pre-requisites. These are:
A user should have a wireless enabled device such as a Laptop, PDA or Mobile Phone that is configured to use wifi 802.11 b/g.
The Wireless device needs to be switched on and the Wireless card enabled.
The card should be set to look for wireless networks (refer to the individual devices documentation for instructions)
The user should be in a Norfolk Open Link enabled area. (See the Coverage maps)
The device has detected and connected to the Norfolk Open Link network which has a network name of "openlink".
Step 2. Connect using wireless.
*Please note that the following images are taken from a computer operating microsoft windows. However the process will be the similar for other operating systems eg Linux, Mac OSX.

Step 3 . Connect using wireless. Open a web browser and type www.norfolkopenlink.com to view the portal .
If you receive a security Alert, click yes

You will then see the portal

Step 4 . You then have to read and agree to the conditions of our acceptable use policy. Tick the box to confirm and finally click "Enter Norfolk Open Link".
You will be taken to the Norfolk Open link website,

At this point you will be able to access the internet.
Access speeds will be 256kbps and each session and you will be limited to a maximum of 1 hour.
